Frequently Asked Questions 

 Q. What are the program requirements? 

  1. Complete the Operation Warm Wish List 
  2. Complete the Beneficiary & Subgrant Agreement 
  3. Distribute the Coats and Shoes within 30 days, collect TANF forms from every family unit, and retain forms for 5 years. 
  4. Complete the post program survey 

Q. What size coats are available for this program? 

A. Operation Warm coats are available in children’s sizes. Coats will ship in boxes of 12 coats of the same size and gender, with an assortment of colors. Children’s Sizes: 2T, 3T, 4, 5/6, 7/8, 10/12, 14/16, 18 

Q. Can I select the colors I want? 

A. No, Operation Warm will supply a wide assortment of colors in the coats and shoes you receive. 

Q. How long will it take to receive orders? 

A. Once all forms have been submitted correctly and your application has bene approved, you will receive an email with tracking information for your order. Orders are shipped via FedEx and take 3 to 5 business days to deliver. 

Q. What does TANF mean? 

A. TANF stands for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.TANF is a time-limited program. The federal government provides grants to states (Ohio) to run the TANF program. 

Q. What does TANF Eligible mean? 

A. To be TANF Eligible a family must include a minor or a woman must be pregnant. Households must earn 200% of the federal poverty line or less. A non-custodial parent may qualify for non-assistance if their minor child is in state. Social Security numbers are required. Please click HERE for more information. 

Q. What if my organization does not distribute to TANF eligible families? 

A. If you are unable to have families fill out TANF forms please sign up on our wish list (Coat and Shoe Wish List Application). We will do our best to identify funding to support your coat and shoe needs. 

Q: How do I know if my school is part of the Community Eligibility Provision?  

A: For eligibility for coats through the CEP Provision your school must be present on this list as noted by the State of Ohio. If your school is CEP eligible, you do not need to collect TANF Forms, you will be required to complete a post program survey.
