Every April, National Volunteer Month gives us a chance to pause and reflect on the people who make our work possible — the volunteers who show up, step in, and give their time to help kids feel warm, confident, and cared for.
At Operation Warm, volunteerism isn’t just about lending a hand. It’s about creating moments of connection. It’s about standing alongside kids and families. And it’s about choosing to show up again and again because you believe in the power of community.
Time Well Spent
Our volunteers have diverse backgrounds; they’re employees volunteering with their coworkers, community members giving back close to home, students, retirees, families, and individuals who see a need and decide to be part of the solution.
What they share is this: a willingness to give their time and a belief that it matters.
One volunteer expressed, “Volunteering with OW has shown me the beauty of humanity. I get the privilege of sharing my time to help spread all these smiles. I always look forward to any chance to volunteer with Operation Warm.”
Volunteering with Operation Warm doesn’t require a lifestyle change. It fits into real life. Whether it’s helping at a gifting event, supporting behind-the-scenes logistics, or lending a hand through our Community Impact Volunteer (CIV) program, every moment spent volunteering helps create meaningful experiences for kids and families.
More Than a Moment
When volunteers show up at an Operation Warm event, they see the impact firsthand. They see kids pick out brand-new coats and shoes. They see smiles, confidence, and relief. And they walk away knowing their time helped make that moment possible.
That’s why so many of our volunteers continue to come back — not just during National Volunteer Month, but all year long. Because when you’re part of something bigger than yourself, the impact stays with you.
Volunteering builds connections between neighbors, coworkers, communities, and the children we serve. It turns compassion into action and intention into impact.
Thank You for Showing Up
This National Volunteer Month, we want to say thank you.
Thank you to the individuals who give their time. Thank you to the employee volunteers who show up as teams. Thank you to the community members who help us reach kids where they are. Thank you to everyone who believes that showing up can change a child’s day, and sometimes, much more than that.
Your time is well spent. Your impact is real. And we are grateful for every moment you share with us.
Want to Get Involved?
