Winter can be tough for families in need, and staying warm is essential for health and safety. That’s why Operation Warm has created this Winter Essentials Checklist—a simple guide to help families stay prepared for the colder months ahead. We believe every child deserves warmth, confidence, and hope, and these essentials reflect that mission.
Checklist: What Families Need This Winter
1. Warm Winter Coat
- A properly fitting, insulated coat is essential for school attendance and outdoor play. Without it, children often miss school or avoid outdoor activities.
2. Weather-Appropriate Shoes
- Shoes that fit well and keep feet dry are critical for health and mobility. Many families struggle to afford these basics, leaving kids vulnerable to cold and illness.
3. Warm Accessories
- Hats, gloves, and scarves help prevent frostbite and keep kids comfortable during outdoor activities.
4. Layering Essentials
- Thermal tops and leggings provide extra warmth under regular clothes.
5. Community Support
- Check local resources for gifting events or programs. Operation Warm partners with schools, shelters, and service agencies to deliver essentials at no cost to beneficiaries.
How You Can Help
Operation warm provides brand-new coats, shoes, and socks for children in need. All essential items are brand-new to ensure kids have resources that not only fit perfectly and keep them warm from the elements, but also give them the confidence to know it’s made just for them. And while Operation Warm doesn’t directly supply additional warm accessories, our events act as a bridge to these resources, with many community partners supplying them in addition.
Currently, there are hundreds of thousands of children still waiting for these resources this season, and you can help.
